Who we are
Pilot Controlled Lighting is a US based small business with over 10 years in the aviation lighting sector. We started out as a Whelen Aircraft light dealer and developed into the aviation product development company we are today. The company owner and founder, Mike Stewart, is a commercial instrument pilot, lives on an airpark, with 20 years in the product development space. He has experience in both large fortune 100 companies, and small start ups.
This product was conceived one day while working on an old airport lighting system, designed in the 80’s, at his local airpark. Repairing the old failing system with soldering irons and voltmeters with his neighbor friends, he knew there must be a better system available. A quick search found that there were only other, old and outdated systems available. Further, no system focused on smaller airports. Immediately, the entrepreneur in him kicked in and he went straight into development mode using the most advanced, current technologies available. In about 6 months time, a new product was born, The PCL-854. Today, we are committed to delivering the best feature set, the lowest price, and the highest level of customer service of any competitor period.
